Secret Garden - The Random Sunday Nonsense Series 2

Today I got this big urge to have a garden of my own again.. To be able to grow a lot of flowers..Soak myself in the colors..Listen to the bees singing, or humming, if you prefer..Watch the butterflies.. Sort of like an escape from the everyday realities, a getaway for instant peace and solace.

When you are a kid, its so much easier. I remember myself spending hours in our garden, exploring every small thing in great detail..seemingly inane things, but yet enough to send our "little" minds into a world of unlimited imagination, oblivious to the rest of the earth.

As we grow up, a lot of us still maintain our Secret Gardens within ourselves.. Our own beautiful patch for us to lose ourselves, so that we remain peaceful and sane. Stay in touch with the child within us. The purity and the love. Very important to feel a part of the Nature.

P.S. I love the song Secret Garden by Bruce Springsteen (OST Jerry Maguire - another fav of mine)

Okkkk.. Back to zzzzz...

My garden is my haven. I don't know how I will survive without that. I have a flower and vegetable garden. And planning for the next season, planting, watching the first shoot peeping out from the ground and growing...I am like a mom...watching it grow everyday worrying, watering, pruning, it is so involving that for those moments you live in a vaccum except for you and the plant. I even have a couple of friendly squirrels in my garden and lots of birds.

The best part is watching the bees and birds and assorted creatures come into your garden. You feel like the Creator Himself. Just think how much fun He would have had making this Earth. If only we would all nurture what He built. We are so consumerist even in using the Earth's resources.
I could go on :) Have lots of fun making your garden.

p.s I am first tra la la la la !!!

:))

@ silverine - first comment from you is the best thing to happen.

i can just picture you in your garden..and your descriptionis so perfect..you know..about the feeling of having created your own perfect world..where even the plants and small creatures talk and communicate with you.. i didnt want to say this earlier in case it sounded too weird! but yeah..i thought the plants always communicated to me.

sunday soliloquy..sounds perfect..glad you could join in :)

Hmm rather than the physical garden , I identify more with the "maintain our Secret Gardens within ourselves.. Our own beautiful patch for us to lose ourselves"

To lose ourselves? Or could it be to find our own real selves?

"Stay in touch with the child within us."

Yes, MC this is very important. As far as i have seen, most people depart from their 'child self'.

Hey buddy!Didn't know you had a green thumb.Think I could use a lesson or two from you.Am thinking of starting one in my balcony. But don't know how to,planning to plant marigolds,jasmine,sunflowers,chillies,ginger,turmeric...you get the drift. But so far it's all in my head.

As a child, I enjoyed watching tiny ants scrambling hither and thither...leading their seemingly busy lives...sometimes, i would allow one to crawl onto my fingers and then place it down elsewhere, far away from their original destination next to new ants that they might have never met and become friends with - had it not been for me (this is what went on in my childish head of course)...and then imagined that this must be how God feels like looking down upon us all.

Hmm Very beautifully expressed .Even I love gardens especially vegetable gardens . Its this connect that each one of has with nature which works at various levels . Nature and all things created by God have this part of God that attracts our soul inherently . As we live in this world made up of man made rules and pretences we loose touch with our true self which is a reflection of him and which we need to find again by reliving siple truths and rediscovering what we have lost but vaguely remember .

I neva enjoyed gardening...I have this phobia for snakes, reptiles in general, but snakes for particular, and I dread even walking barefoot on the green grass, specially if its even a little longer than usual...I dont think i wil be having a garden...might keep some pots, but definately not a garden.

Everytime I feel low I open up your blog and scan through everything there is to it. I love your passion for life(and suicide!)...but mostly for life. I wish I could do everything I have always wanted. There is nothing stopping me except myself. When I read your blog I enter a little world of my own where I am everything I have ever wanted to be and am doing everything I want to do. But at the end of it all I am just where I started.. dreaming and not having the courage to live that dream...

@ sachin - yes, the more beautiful the garden within yourself, the more wonderful human beings we will be i think. lose ourselves or find ourselves..hmm..depends whether you have lost yourself in the first place.

@ alex - very true alex..the purity of childhood should be preserved.

@ maya - balcony..then where will we gaze at shooting stars?
:)

@ kesi - lol..thats sooo sweet..i have done similar things too..trying to figure out what one ant might have said to another.

well this reminds me of some psychoanalysis stuff which delves into man's desire to be God :)

@ anonymous - great! you are on the good side then!

@ shruti - well said..connecting with nature..thats the prime thing..and i always find that need to be connected with nature..if its not plants and animals, the whole sky is mine.

@ neha - we can try and make a garden minus the snakes and reptiles :) try..its worth it.

@ starbender - thanks a ton..yeah the feeling too.

wishing you also the best of the season!

@ kesi - thanks a ton kesi..hope you had a lovely xmas..and i am sure the new year will be even better!

@anonymous - and who might this be? you dont sound too anonymous..and from what you have written it has to be one of the two people i have in mind :)

thanks for stopping by.

and most importantly, never stop dreaming. its only a matter of trying to realize your dream. remember the alchemist? the whole world will conspire to make your dream come true..
