Pink

Is there a color of love? When you are in love, do you associate it with a color?

They say Red is for passionate and deep love, Blue for committment and sincere love, Violet for mysterious love, Green for balanced love (if there can be one!), Yellow for bright and happy love and Orange for fiery and creative love.

But Pink, they say, is for joyous and calming love. It reminds me of a Mother's love. What better word to describe her love than "joyous". I think it truly describes the genuinity of the feeling than passion, mystery, balance and creativity. It is a love that is undying, guaranteed, forever, above-all and above-self. From the moment you are a zygote to forever.

My mother is an extra-ordinary person. From the depths of poverty, her family educated her and provided her small opportunities. She worked tirelessly and relentlessly with dedication and faith in God. I remember her telling me, when the first Jet plane went through South India she was a kid and was playing alone in a green paddy field.. The roaring sound, which she had no clue about, scared her so much that she thought the world was ending and she knelt down in the field and prayed. Today, she is one of the best in the country in her chosen field. And I think it has been a tremendous journey.

Motherhood is also a responsibility, and it should be a choice borne out of only one factor - Love. It should not be a social custom, a milestone or an accident. Choose it wisely.

As Mother's Day approaches (May 14, 2006), I dedicate this post to the color Pink and all the love in the world that it carries. I dedicate this post to My Mother. And to all the other mothers' for their love and care, that keeps the world together.

So go ahead, give her a hug, send her roses, send her a letter or card, buy her something, think of her, take her for dinner, go for a drive with her, tell her you love her..

Happy Mother's Day!

Yet another priceless gem of a post from MC! Your mom is going to be most pleased with what you have written here, straight from your heart, than any number of gifts or cards for that matter. :)

Joyous and calming love..what a wonderful and apt way to describe mother's love.

Happy Mother's day in advance to your mom, all other moms and to my own dearest mom for balancing her worklife and homelife so well and not a single day goes by when I am not inspired by it!

PS: That shade of pink and that picture of the rose with fresh dew drops has an amazingly soothing effect on the mind.

@ quills - thank you so much.
i guess each of us learn the most valuable lessons of life from our mother and father. yes, and they are the biggest inspiration.

very beautifully written ..i seem to be lost for other words ..beautiful is the only thing tht comes to the mind .. very beautiful pic too ..pink sure is calmin n soothin ..and the comparision was so apt n touchin
ur mother is very lucky to have a son like U and am sure ur lucky to have her
..i think acknowledgement of their love and understandin them is the best thing a parent could get ..becos they do unconditionally for children ..I feel you that a lot.It makes respect you for it .

WOW!
I mean WOW!
Your mom is a very special person and she has a special son to prove it too :)

I applaud the grit she has to overcome whatever she has to date.I set her as an example to get my lazy ass off the couch some day.

And mother's day...thanks for the reminder. It's so easy to get moms a present because whatever we give they accept them with much more love than we may be able to give them. It's unconditional.

I have not been able to feel how much they feel for us but I know for sure it's a very fierce love that one cannot sometimes conjure.

Energy, or Ch'i, gets locked into a certain vibration based on how we use a colour. Each colour has a vibration of it's own.It can make us happy or sad.
UPLIFTING - Reds, yellows, and bright colors.
SOOTHING - Blue, green.
SLOW - Browns and dark colors. POWER - Red and it's dark derivatives, gold, black.
SOFT - Light pastels.
GROUNDED - Neutral beige, tan or brown tones SEXUAL - Reds, hot pink, orange, and black.
DRAWING - Purple, red, gold. ROMANTIC - Pink, red, orange, peach.
COOLING - Blue, green, lavender. NEUTRAL - Beige, white, and tan. WARMING - Reds, oranges, yellow-green, yellow.
SPIRITUAL - Purple, violet, white CREATIVE - Vibrant blues, teals, turquoise, orange.

Thank you for the beautiful sentiment about your mother. My birth mother died when I was eight and I have no real memories of her. I have "adopted" moms over the years, and always seem to loose them as well. A little less than a year ago, (my) Mister's mother (and my last mom) passed away. The two of us were at her side as she passed, giving her her final wish to be at home on her sofa. The reason I mention it here, is you ask about the color of love. You see mom's favorite color was purple..... Purple everything (even her car!) May sound strange, but all of the girls showed up to her funeral with purple toe polish (UN-PLANNED!) to honor her memory. It was the perfect tripute, one that I am sure made her smile from her new home. To this day, when I see the color purple, I think of her and the love she shared with so many. For this reason, I think there are many colors of love.

Enjoy your mom this mother's day!

Very beautifully written Mind Curry. :)
Being a mother is a huge responsibility, yes. But it is also lots of fun. It makes us a better person.

BTW, I have added a link to your blog in mine. Hope you don't mind.

Your post made me all senti :(

Hope your Amma realises how much you love her and cherish her.

So go ahead, give her a hug, send her roses...
My mom runs for her life when she sees me approaching because I have the habit of giving her bear hugs leaving her gasping for breath :p

And the greatest joy of my life is to sleep between her and my Dad. In fact as kids me and second bro fought over who will sleep next to her ( my poor Dad, we must have killed his love life :p )

Really sweet post! May your Amma have all the happiness and joy life can give.

@ shruti - thank you shruti. your words are really really kind and sweet. i like the pic too. infact, i have another pink rose snap that i took.
hope you are gonna tell your mother too how much you love her.

@ maya - thanks maya. every mother is an inspiration. i think to a great effect, we are reflections of them.

in some ways, their fierce love can become points of conflicts at certain times. but in the end, knowing that it is all out of love takes away any hurt or pain.

thank you for the color power info! now i know what i will wear each day :)

@ patty - while writing this post, i did feel a prick on how people who lost their mother's would feel. but in the end i knew, we all will associate something special about our mother's.

i am very very sorry to know about your mother. i really share your sentiment as well.

definitely, love can have different colors..its just a matter of perception and association.

@ anita - i been wondering too where you disappeared. i dont like mozilla anyway :) sounds like godzilla.

glad you will be spending time with your mumma. excellent!

@ has to be me - thanks dear. no i did not show it to my mom and i dont think she will see it either.

you are one example of a great mother..and this post is dedicated to you as well.

waiting for your post as well!

@ radhi - thanks rad! great to see you here.
ofcourse, being a mother is a joy..i see it daily, almost.

@ silverine - :) so sweet..i did feel guilty after posting that i will leave all readers a bit senti..but couldnt help it.

i share a special relationship with my amma alright..but yeah, there are points of conflicts. sometimes i think i am a rebel..hihi..but its the same things she taught me to fight for and believe in that i try to keep up.

but in the end, there is so much love.and where there is love, there is bound to be hurt as well.

i can see what a joy you are to your mom and dad. they are truly blessed.

thanks for your sweet wishes. i wish your mother the same and more.
