Sky Above, Earth Below

Above: Sky, Sun, Clouds, Mountains, Water, Trees, Road..
A view of the Rockies from the car.

According to a funny person, the Moon is more important than the Sun. Because it gives us light at night when light is needed, but the Sun only gives us light during day when light is not really needed.

As funny as that sounds, in our daily lives, we are met with similar circumstances and people. We miss the big picture when it is needed and instead get caught in the petty issues. On the flip-side, we live our lives searching for the big things and forget to enjoy the small gifts of life. We are always caught in-between. Stuck, with a mental glue that we create ourselves.

The world divided itself into continents and countries, and then talk about unity and peace. Its states talk about international events, yet forget their own homeland. People talk about Societies, yet have no clue about their family.

Priests talk about the God Almighty, His love, His kingdom and then broker Him and divide the people for their interests as though they hold the tickets to the pearly gates - "you will go to heaven, but you shall not because you did not do this". People go to pray to show they believe and then they hope God will not see everything that they do.

Parents want their children to be born free and think big, but only according to what they say. Children grow up but in the end wish they never did. Life becomes a struggle, always trying to fit into a shell of expectations created by others, that keeps you away from reaching for the stars that you can only dream of. Is it because you are safer in the shell or is it a worry that you might break the fragile shell?.

We believe in a lot of things, yet our actions and thoughts, unbound to our beliefs, are chained to bubbles and shades instead. We know what is right, yet we are not able to fight for it; we know what is wrong, yet we are unable to stop ourselves.

We still live in a deep dark forest. Sky above, Earth below.

MC, you have captured some absolute truths, which although we know about deep down, we seldom think, let alone write.

Life becomes a struggle, always trying to fit into a shell of expectations created by others, that keeps you away from reaching for the stars that you can only dream of. ..so true. And I guess somewhere along the way, we give up our dreams, so that we fit into this mould that someone else has created for us.

Excellent post!

On a lighter note, lovely pict. The sun is so bright, that I had to wear shades while posting this comment. :)

Mind Curry said...

@ quills - thanks so much dear..i wondered if it will make sense to anyone else :)

yes, the sun..it always is a source of positive energy..just like the moon and stars are sources of comfort and hope :)

the picture is amazing..loved the perspective on this one.
It's got everything covered in it.
All the basic elements needed to sustain life on this planet.

hahah was that funny person someone I know haha

Your right sometimes the mental glue is so mushy that it falls into our eyes and removes all kinds of sight including foresight.
Being blinded by the ignorance of the mind and the eye...we just don't see!

We still live in a deep dark forest. Sky above, Earth below....love that!:)

You suddenly became philosophical…

You broke with her? She dumped you?

Don’t worry man… there is always a next time..

Aaj poooja, kal koi dooja…

Great thoughts .. what you wrote is so true. First we build a world which is so far from reality and then find ourselves getting caught in issues created by it. A free mind, a conscience and some courage is all we need, but we don't have it yet, do we?

That was an exceptional piece of writing. You have stylish, clear, concise, and well organized. You have expressed some basic truths in your own inimitable way. I second jilby's opinion not a word out of place, not a word more needed!!! Great post MC.

Mind Curry said...

@ jiby - i am proud to know you dared to break free! that is what counts the most in our lives..its sad that even a simple thing like dreaming requires one to be daring ("dare to dream")

like i said earlier, i never thought it would make so much sense to anyone other than me..

all said, life is so beautiful with all its intricacies and i am thankful to God.

i havent seen anthing, that i liked so much
dont you read your own posts? :)

@ maya - thank you maya..yeah even i love the pic..i caught the rear view purposely on the frame, but i keep wondering if you should have avoided it.

yeah you know that funny person..

@ IiC - glad to hear that..

@ helen - profound? gosh.. :) glad you enjoyed it. good to see you around.

@ geo - yes boss..she dumped me for some stud footballer-techie macho man :) no next time for me..waah!! i want only pooja..not dooja!

boss, one more tag coming soon for you!

@ archana - a free mind..i wonder if thats possible unless we hibernate or seclude ourselves..great to see you back in action..

@ alexis - basic truths..thank you al..a compliment from someone as accomplished as you is worth a lot!

Life is an irony, right?

If only we could detach ourselves from our own lives, we would see how we are faltering, how silly we are and how our actions belie our thoughts.

I've always felt life is at its core, very simple. We make too much out of it, and end up with something that is too complex, too demanding and ultimately not very satisfying.

Great thoughts MC.

And you'll get your Pooja. Can you introduce me to Dooja when she comes along?

Ram

Mind Curry said...

@ ram - absolutely..total irony..and we ourselves display the irony so well. you are right about living life simple..but then its almost impossible considering the warped webs we get caught in.

And you'll get your Pooja. Can you introduce me to Dooja when she comes along?
i burst out laughing reading that..ok..i will intro you to dooja then :)

@ hope and love - ahh..a comment from the holidaying doc..thank you..no i am very insensitive, but just trying to show a nicer side of me through this blog ;)

@ has to be me - uh oh!! i am caught! yet again!

Mind Curry said...

@ ashish - hey, good to see you here..

i like that..life being oxymoronic..

"let go"..hmmm..in some senses of it..actually its a bit more complicated than that..i mean..how far would you go before letting go but not be insensitive? there..another in-between..

@ mathew - pleasure to see you here, that too in between all those responsibilities of life.. thank you. and really appreciate your compliment.

yes, copyright © mind curry is valid just as a few people found out recently..tsk tsk... no i have not changed my name yet :)

Beautiful thoughts and beautiful words and the whole write is just perfect and true.

We are a sad lot indeed, born free but raised in the captivity of religion, society, race, expectations...

Beautiful post MC..... cosmic truths too.

Everybody has agendas, every institution has facades.... sometimes whole Potemkin Villages, socio-political norms we see today are usually built on eons and layers of power-plays. IMO that's simply the way things are. What one needs to do is to be able to see through all this..... and make his choices.

Funny thing is most of this Maya is backed by solid reasons and our "outlandish" selves might have to conform to these norms. But again, there are the rare folks who don't simply lie down and conform.... but still meet success.

Mind Curry said...

@ patty - thank you sooo much. i did see your post too and it was really good. your "from the heart" approach is very nice.

@ silverine - ah there you are..from simla with love..

i hope none of us remain sad, and i cannot imagine that, but will have the indomitable spirit to stay above all those negativities and always keep smiling and passionate about the things we believe in.

@ anand - the wanderer strikes back..

potemkin village! wow..you said it..as i said in my earlier comment, its up to us to make the choice and follow what we think is right..i agree its a tough task, especially when even love comes with rules. but atleast in the end we will know we tried..

man..this is getting to be a heavy post..

hmm ...the sun doesnt need to eb there during the day ..but den we would have darkness.. night happens when the sun is not dere due to earth's rotation ????

Neways ..very nice thoughts .. but constraints and struggle are very imp in life ..as they help u conenct with the inner U the real U .. life is not only about reaching for the stars is how u got dere thts most imp .. once we get the stars they seem to loose their shine ..
To me life has taught so many valuable lessons ..that i tresure them and keep them close to my heart .. I agree expectations etc are limiting ..but only when u face them do u evolve ..There is a greater purpose and am too young to comment on the same.

what a great post? how beautifully written? so there are more and better philosphers here....:))

Yeah, it amazes me sometimes why despite knowing what is right and what is wrong, we still choose to ignore these and carry on with our lives along the trodden paths. maybe, we have few options! We feel insecure to get out of the conventional and explore the simpler yet finer shades of life. Why do we confine ourselves to those small, narrow, monotonous worlds we have created for ourselves?

.People go to pray to show they believe and then they hope God will not see everything that they do......

this is something I have pondered over for eons.

Great photo, brilliant post, Mind Curry ki jai...

@ shruti - the thing about sun and moons light was supposed to be a joke. nothing more.

yeah i wasnt saying struggles are not worth it or life should be easy. i am sure life becomes a lot more satisfying when there are struggles.

@ lalit - hello! welcome here! thank you so much!

@ scribblez to wakeup - welcome here you too :) yes we focus on the wrong things most of the times..sadly..

yeah rockies were soooo lovely..amazing...will wait to see your pics :)

@ arjun - lol..nothing to beat arjun sir..i mean it.

despite knowing the truth, we are forced ( or atleast expected) to follow conventional "wisdom"..and when i mean force, it comes in many ways - physical, mental, emotional, financial..just depends what your weakness is.

wot do do, stealing is in my genes since my great great great grandpa's grandpa stole someone's kallu kudam. So if you go to court I will plead not guilty under 'kallu' syndrome' :)))))

@ moontalk - thank you and nice to have you here.
i didnt really get what you meant by "cancelling out" our ideas.

@ shruti - its not sad that life is trying..its only sad that most of the trials of life are man-made and unnecessary. i dont see any use in creating a problem and then playing the winner or the victim.

bohemian rhapsody?

no you fit in well. unless you want to be a misfit :)

@ silverine - ahh..so here is a direct post from the HQ itself, and not an outsourced one!
grumble grumble! stealing the copyright warning too!

i am proud to be living and preaching the art of silverine then, dear matha silverinamma.

my great great great grandpa's grandpa's soul is still searching for his kallu kudam!! man..now he knows where to get it back from.

"kallu" syndrome is no more accepted as an aliby ::
